Transformations lets players take the form of certain bosses with unique attacks in Black Myth: Wukong. Discover all the known transformations and their effects, how to get them, and more!

All Transformations

Boss Transformations

Transformation	Description
Azure Dust	From azure dust, a rock guai stands robust. Transform into a rock guai, immune to all Four Banes. It builds up Might when hit.
Red Tides	As the feral flurry intensifies, with each fierce thrust, the flames do rise. Transform into a wolf guai and inflict Scorch Bane on the enemy with each attack.

Story Transformations

Cicada

During Chapter 1, the Destined One will be turned into a golden cicada to sneak around the area and avoid combat. You can exit the transformation if you want to fight the enemies in the area, but you won't be able to turn back into being a bug.

Lion

In this form, the protagonist transforms into a large lion that slams the ground with its fists, dealing area-of-effect damage. This transformation seems particularly useful for handling large groups of enemies, allowing players to control the

Lightning Rats

In this transformation, the protagonist dodges an attack and splits into a rat along with two illusory copies to counterattack with a spell. While it’s unclear if this form has a full moveset, it seems to be particularly useful for ranged counter attacks.

Statue

The trailer starts by panning through different statues and revealing the last one to be the protagonist. Although this transformation is seen in a cutscene, if usable in gameplay, it could be highly effective for stealth, allowing players to hide from foes and set up ambushes.

Poison

This transformation turns the protagonist into a creature with a long claw that inflicts poison on enemies. It also has the ability to cause an explosion, potentially healing itself or gaining some resource. This form is likely useful for its self-healing effects in prolonged battles.

Tentacle

The tentacle form enables the protagonist to move quickly around the battlefield, using its tentacles to pick up and throw rocks as ranged attacks. The tentacles also serve as melee weapons, dealing damage from a safe distance. This form is versatile, offering mobility and a mix of ranged, close combat, and area-of-effect options.

Two-Headed Rat

This two-headed Rat transformation has an affinity for fire, with various abilities to deal fire damage, as well as a blade for close combat. This form seems to be especially useful for dealing damage as it may burn enemies for a fire damage-over-time effect while also attacking with its blade.

Jade Monk

This transformation is used as a combo finisher, with the protagonist slamming its head into the ground to stun enemies. It seems particularly effective for crowd control, giving players an opportunity to incapacitate foes in a single move.

Crossbow Rat

A short clip shows the crossbow rat transformation firing multiple flaming bolts at a boss. This form seems to be great for any form of combat due to its ranged attacks unless there will be enemies resistant to certain projectile attacks.

Nimble Rat

This red-robed rat transformation has a quick and acrobatic moveset that can easily dodge through enemy attacks. This form would be ideal for players that prefer agility and evasion in their kit.

Spectral Monk

In this clip, the protagonist transforms into a spectral monk to dodge an attack and dash backward. It’s unclear if this form has other moves, but it appears to be highly effective for evasion and repositioning during combat.

Swordsman

The swordsman transformation is shown following up an attack with a powerful slash. This form seems to be one that could deal a lot of damage to bosses but lack area-of-effect attacks useful for crowds of enemies.

Twin Claw

In this clip, the enemy is frozen in time by one of the protagonist’s spells, followed by a flurry of slashes from the twin claw transformation. This form appears to be another great offensive form that can deal rapid, high-damage attacks when enemies are vulnerable.

Dual-Wielding Swordsman

The dual-wielding wwordsman transformation is used to execute a wide swing, cutting through the area around it and countering the boss' attack after dodging. This form is seems to be great for dealing damage to groups of enemies with its wide slashes.

Plant

In this clip, the protagonist transforms into a harmless plant to avoid being detected by the nearby giant. This transformation is likely useful for stealth, allowing players to blend into the environment and avoid combat.

How to Get Transformations

Get Weapons or Valuables from Bosses

Certainbosses will drop their weapons or valuables once you defeat them, granting you the skill to transform and fight like the boss for a short period of time.

Once you use a transformation, you will get access to unique light and heavy attacks and a special attack once you fully charge your Focus meter.

Transformations Overview

Transform into a Boss for a Short Period

Transformations allow you to take the form of certain bosses over a short period of time. These transformations will let you use unique attacks, which can be helpful in tight combat situations.

The Transformation spell has a long cooldown after it is used, so it is recommended to only use it when fighting tough bosses.

Different from Spirits

Do note that these Transformations are different from Spirits, which unlock a single move rather than a full-blown transformation.

Spirits are unlocked after capturing the essence of certain bosses, and they let you take the form of the respective boss and execute a single move.

Duration Relies on Health and Might Meter

How long you can stay transformed depends on your health while transformed or how much is left in your Might Meter. Both of these are displayed on the lower left side of the screen.

Your health will decrease whenever you get hit by an attack, while your Might Meter will slowly decrease over time or whenever you execute an attack. If any of these run out, you will transform back into a monkey.

You can also de-transform if you want to end your transformation early with the same button input as when you transform into a boss.

Attacks Build Up Focus

Similar to your regular form, attacking while you are transformed will build up Focus, which is displayed on the lower right side of the screen.

Once you fully charge up your Focus meter, you can execute a powerful Full Focus attack. These attacks vary from one Transformation to another and can have different command inputs.

Change Transformation at Shrines

You can change your equipped Transformation skill in any Shrine.

Offer an incense at the Shrine, select Set Spells, and choose the last node to change to any of the Transformations you've unlocked.
