Malcolm X was assassinated on Feb 21st 1965. Here are some quotes from him that are still relevant to this day:"You can’t separate peace from freedom, because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom.""If you’re not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.""You’re not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can’t face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it.""I have no mercy or compassion in me for a society that will crush people, and then penalize them for not being able to stand up under the weight""Time is on the side of the oppressed today, it’s against the oppressor. Truth is on the side of the oppressed today, it’s against the oppressor. You don’t need anything else."

As the crisis in Gaza continues to get worse, here is a quick summary of the past days events1. The US is asking the UN not to issue an advisory opinion to immediately withdraw from lands sought for a Palestinian state: https://lnkd.in/ey_gpYUu2. US vetoed the UN resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian cease-fire in Gaza: https://lnkd.in/eVn_6gR93. Israeli strike kills 67 Palestinians in Muwasi. That is the strip of land Israel deemed a "safe zone" a month ago: https://lnkd.in/e7w3KBgBSo no place to seek shelter, no end to the attacks and destruction, and no future state (ie self-determination). All under the banner of Israel's right to exist and defend itself.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday rejected U.S. calls to scale back Israel’s military offensive in the Gaza Strip or take steps toward the establishment of a Palestinian state after the war, drawing an immediate scolding from the White House. He said Israel “must have security control over the entire territory west of the Jordan River,” adding: “That collides with the idea of sovereignty. What can we do?”“This truth I tell to our American friends, and I put the brakes on the attempt to coerce us to a reality that would endanger the state of Israel,” he said.https://lnkd.in/eNs_seRz

South Africa has launched a case at the UN International Court of Justice against Israel relating to intent to cause and not prevent a genocide. The case is to be heard on Jan 11-12th. It is important to note that these proceedings can take time (ie years). Also, the ICJ has no enforcement powers but can help advise the Security Council. The linked article provides a quick overview including the full application that South Africa submitted. I recommend everyone to read it over to understand what is being alleged and the evidence they are providing. One section that I recommend reviewing are pages 59-67 which cites high ranking Israeli State and army officials including the Prime Minister, President, Minister of Defense, Minister of National Security, and Army Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) of their alleged intent to commit and failure to prevent genocide.https://lnkd.in/eQGUEunQ
