Sorry it didn't turn out for you. Every microwave is going to run slightly differently if the mixture is starting to turn slightly brown then you shouldn't microwave it any longer as stated.

  2. Microwave Peanut Brittle Recipe-Butter Your Biscuit (8)J

I followed the directions exactly as written and should have stopped after the first microwaving. The second microwaving resulted in a burning of the syrup and sugar mixture and I wasted the whole batch!

Just soak in hot soapy water for a few minutes comes right off.

I'm going to try this recipe today, but my concern is cleaning the glass mixing bowl and utensils I'll be using. Won't the mixture harden on them, too? How do you clean them properly?

Didn't get it hot enough. You have to hit hard crack stage heat or it's not going to harden. From internet: Hard-Crack Stage is a cooking term meaning that a sugar syrup being heated has reached 149 – 154 C (300 – 310 F.) It is a test of how hot a sugar syrup is, and of how much water is left in it.

Why did my peanut brittle turn white? ›

Peanut brittle turning white, often referred to as "sugaring," is typically the result of crystallization of the sugar in the candy. This crystallization can make the brittle appear white or cloudy rather than having a clear, glass-like consistency.

Peanut butter adds a lot of value to baked goods — it provides a salty, nutty flavor, a light golden color, and a nice dose of sweetness from the sugar. It also doesn't skimp on the fat content.

Why is my peanut brittle so thick? ›

Not spreading the mixture thinly enough: If the peanut brittle is too thick (usually because you used too small of a pan), it may not cool and harden properly. Buttering the inside of the cooking pan will prevent sugar crystals from sticking to the sides while the corn syrup, water, sugar and butter cook to 275 degrees. At that stage the peanuts are added and the mixture is cooked, stirring constantly, until it reaches 300 degrees.

Does humidity affect making peanut brittle? ›

I've learned that brittle is better when made on a cool, dry day. When I've made the candy on a warmer, humid day, it tends to be a stickier brittle. This is because the brittle takes longer to cool, and it reaches a point where it is no longer evaporating moisture into the air.

1 Answer. What you can see in the jar is peanut oil, which has separated and floats on top. It means, you have bought a non-hom*ogenized product, possibly an "all-natural" or "organic" product. Just stir the oil into the thick paste at the bottom and use as usual.
