People were polite and didn’t answer questions. If people just communicated directly, it would be different. I’m not sure the subtitles were 100% accurate. Some of the lines seemed callous, but I wasn’t sure if this is Korean humor or bad translation.

She is the protector of daily life: the good mother and wife, the obedient daughter, the organizer of family holiday functions. She believes in the dream of bourgeois domestic happiness. She asks her husband, “Why can’t we be happy?” She diets because she knows her job is to look good for her husband. Marianne and Johan are a professional couple. He has to make a change.
